BEYOND BAD APPLES Project’s 2nd General Assembly in Helsinki 8th & 9th of January 2025.
The BEYOND project's Second General Assembly was hosted by the University of Helsinki on 8th and 9th January 2025.
The second General Assembly of the BEYOND BAD APPLES project was hosted by the University of Helsinki on 8th and 9th of January.
Part of the Horizon Europe framework, the BEYOND is well on its way on reaching its goals in developing its approach to fostering research environment. The meeting in the University of Helsinki’s Minerva building on 8th and 9th of January provided a platform for members of the project's Work Packages and the Stakeholder Advisory Board to discuss the achievements, progress and future plans of the working groups. The main event was preceded on the 7th of January by a reception held at the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK’s offices, also in Helsinki.
On the first day of the General Assembly (Jan 8th) each of the Work Packages summarized their year’s work. For an example WP4’s Erika Löfström and Anu Tammeleht presented training material aimed at Research ethics and integrity training for supervisors and early career researchers, that were developed by the group and now in the piloting stage. By taking steps in training ethical thinking in situations involving research design and personnel management, steps can be taken to better the research culture within the Research producing organizations.
On the second day (Jan 9th) further action was outlined and more results from the work of the project partners were presented. For instance, WP3’s Daniele Fanelli presented a new definition, and a theory of Questionable Research Practices developed by him and the research group in the University of Tartu. The new advances in conceptualization within the core of research integrity is a step forward scientific discussion on the field.
Well-represented by the project partners as well as the members of the Stakeholder Advisory Board, the General Assembly was a success in advancing the work done in the project and a fine way to conclude the second year of the BEYOND project. Congratulations to all, who were involved!
