Ian is a qualitative social scientist with a PhD in political geography. His research interests share a focus on the nexus between technology, security and politics, and include the socio-technical aspects of cybersecurity innovation; regulation, standards and ethical responsibility; geopolitics and international relations; security theory; the governance of risk; and more-than-human theory. Prior to joining Trilateral Research, Ian was a post-doctoral researcher at Royal Holloway, University of London with the UK ESRC-funded Discribe programme, focussing on the societal and economic implications of innovation in digital security hardware technology. Ian is currently the lead for WP1, and is also contributing to WP2, WP5 and WP6.
